Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Ensure the file name of your document is the article title. E.g. automation.doc or automation.docx
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

FUTAJEET: A Journal of Engineering and Engineering technology

The journal is a publication of the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology, Federal University of Technology, Akure Ondo State, Nigeria.  Futajeet is a peer-reviewed journal published twice every year, that is, in April and November.

Aim and Scope

FUTAJEET publishes theoretical, practical, research, analytical and reviewed papers in all aspects of engineering and related applied sciences.

Papers submitted for publication must be original and shall make definite contribution to knowledge in engineering. Papers are processed for publications with the understanding that they have neither been submitted nor accepted for publication elsewhere. All correspondence should be sent to:

Submission of Manuscripts

Papers can be submitted at any time by uploading it on the Journal's homepage. To be able to submit a paper, the author must register (free) on our website. All links for registration and paper submission are available https://futajeet.com. If an author encounters any difficulty in submitting a paper, it may be sent to the editor by e-mail to: jeet@futa.edu.ng and copy futajeet@gmail.com. An article is placed on review when the author pays processing fee of Five Thousand Naira only (N5,000:00). Payment can be made to:

Manuscript

The manuscript should be typed, double-spaced with adequate top and side margins (2.5 cm). A paper should not exceed fifteen (15) pages including figures and Tables. Research notes and short communication not exceeding Eight (8) pages are also acceptable. Classified and commercial advertisements are also welcome. Only documents prepared in English Language using MS Word 2003 or higher on a 12 point font-face of Times New Roman will be considered. The articles should have only one column per page.

 Organization of the Manuscript

Apart from the title page, which must be separated page, all other section should run concurrently.

Title Page

The title page should contain only the title of the paper, name(s) and address (es) of author(s). The corresponding author should preferably be the first author. The title of the paper should not exceed 18 words. The surname(s) of author(s) should be followed by the initial(s)

Abstract

The abstract should not exceed 250 words. It should include 3 to 6 keywords, which describe the work. The name(s) of author(s) is/are not required on this page.

Introduction

The introduction should contain recent or current literature review related to the work and clearly justify the need for the study.

Materials and Methods

This should be clear enough to enable readers to interpret the results and also repeat the experiment elsewhere. Particular attention should be paid to experimental design, equipment description (depending on the type of paper), analysis and statistical methods.

Results

Results obtained should be logically presented. It should be concise. Avoid duplicating information already in Tables or figures.

Discussion

This section may be combined with the results to read Results and Discussion. It should indicate clearly the significance and implications of the results obtained. Inferences and opinions should be distinguished from facts and should not duplicate results except to introduce or clarify points. Reference should be made to published literature.

Acknowledgements

Financial contributors, pre-paper reviewers, etc should be acknowledged.

Referencing

The Havard system of referencing must be used in the text. For example Adegoke (2008) for single author, Olufayo and Afolayan (1991) for double authors and Akintunde et al. (2006) for more than two authors. All references cited must be arranged alphabetically in the list of references. References to two or more papers published in the same year by same author(s) should be distinguished by appending alphabets e.g. Ogunlowo (1996a, 1996b) or Ademosun and Aderoba (2000a and b).  Use the International List of Periodical Titles Word Abbreviation or alternatively write the Titles of periodicals in full.

In case of publications in any language other than English, the original titles are to be retained. However, the titles in non-Latin alphabets should be translated and a notation such as (in Russian or (in Greek, with English abstract) should be added. In referring to a personal communication the two words are followed by the year, e.g. O. C. Ademosun, personal communication, 1992).

Authors are highly encouraged to check the previous issues of FUTAJEET and search for related articles for citation in their articles. This will help to improve the citation index of FUTAJEET.

 Tables and Figures

Tables and Figures must be presented on separate sheets. Captions should be brief but should adequately describe contents and should be typed single spaced and included as the last page of the manuscript. The Tables should be numbered in Arabic numerals and Vertical lines must be avoided. References should be made to all Tables and Figures in the text and they should be self-explanatory without reference to the text or other Tables and Figures.

Drawings/Illustrations

Drawing/Illustrations should not be larger than 156 mm X 219 mm and should be planned for 50% reduction in size. Line drawings should normally be computer produced. If otherwise the originals of the line drawings must be in India ink on white tracing paper of glossy photographic reproductions. Photographs of equipment, test pieces etc. shall normally be glossy prints and usually not in colour unless the author(s) is/are prepared to bear the cost of the published colour print.

Symbols, Abbreviations and Units

As much as possible, symbols and abbreviations should be defined where first mentioned. However, in some write-ups with lots of symbols, a nomenclature defining symbols must be included. The S.I Units should be used.

Page Charges

Papers accepted for publication are subjected to a mandatory pagination fee of Twenty-five Thousand Naira (N25,000) only.

 Equations

All mathematical expressions should be written using the appropriate equation editor of the software used. Equations are to be numbered consecutively by Arabic numerals in parenthesis at the right margin.

Paper Revisions

An author receiving editorial recommendations for revision should submit the revised manuscript within 4 weeks; otherwise longer intervals will be treated as new manuscripts.

Copyright

With the submission of a manuscript, the corresponding author confirms that the manuscript is not under consideration by another journal. With the acceptance of a manuscript, the Journal reserves the exclusive right of publication and dissemination of the information contained in the article. The veracity of the paper and all the claims therein is solely the opinion of the authors not the journal.
